If your toddler gets a strange rash on the weekend and your regular doctor isn’t available, it may be instinct to hit the emergency room. But that’s likely not the best option — long wait times and a huge bill…and sick people all around. Do employees know their options for care, including cost ranges and levels of treatment?
Check out our Right Care for Right Now chart that can help employees understand their options.

One Simple Chat Can Help Employees Save Hundreds
Whether they’re on your company’s medical plan or not, every employee should understand not only how to find care, but how to make sure they’re not overpaying for it. Employees need to understand when to use the ER, urgent care, telehealth, or convenience store clinic.
It’s helpful to lay out the cost differences in a common expense like an x-ray. At the hospital, it would cost up to $800 and the employee would pay a percentage based on coverage. At an urgent care, that same x-ray would cost up to $400—a percentage of $400 is clearly less expensive.
There’s a bit of a balancing act with this messaging, as you never want to steer someone away from the ER during an actual emergency. Be clear that your medical plan will cover an ER visit. The goal with the downloadable chart above is to help make it clear there are options.
