Challenge

This widely-dispersed company with 37 locations needed to transition employees to new benefits and new technology.

Solution

We developed an employee benefits communications series to announce USG’s transition to a new online benefits system and their new voluntary benefits. Also redesigned their intranet site within SharePoint to be a true self-service decision-making tool.

  • We started early and delivered bite-size bits of information to all audiences, including leadership and HR business partners.
  • We focused on an actionable item that could be done right away — entering beneficiary information. It encouraged early sign-ups to the site.
  • The Benefits Guide served as a decision-making roadmap as it matched the content and flow of the new benefits enrollment system. (We also translated for Spanish versions.)
  • We transformed their intranet (SharePoint site) from a “link farm” to portal-style. Employees can quickly find the info they need and do what they need to do.
