It’s January! Check Off those Pay and Benefit To-Do’s

The holidays are behind us, and a new year is ahead of us. As we settle into January, now is a good time to have your employees check off their pay and benefits to-do’s before the month passes you by.
Depending on the benefits offered to employees, you may want to tell employees to:

  • Confirm that the company contribution has been made to their health savings account (HSA). Also, have them check their paystub to make sure the amount they contribute to their HSA is correct.
  • Check their first paystub of the year to ensure their tax exemptions for federal, state and any local withholding are being made, and that they’re correct. This is also a good time to determine whether they want to increase their withholdings.
  • Check their paystub to make sure all deductions match the benefits elections from their 2017 open enrollment confirmation statement.
  • Watch their home mail for a 1095-C form. This is their proof of healthcare insurance.
